Walter loves drama, stories, theater…he gets so drawn in and it’s beautiful to see. Bill’s wife had extra tickets to a show and she gave them to him. We ended up getting call from them in the car and Walter wanted us to pick up right away when he saw who was calling. He accepted the offer before I could, “I would love too!”

I made reservations for us at a beautiful little restaurant close by. That part was rather rushed, but we still ended up at the theater on time and Walter was somewhat refreshed from his long nap in traffic.

The show was funny and lovely and warm and the most interactive play I’d ever been to. I agreed with the woman who told me at intermission that seeing Walter’s delight in the performance was every bit as entertaining as the show itself.

The whole way home he chatted about a play that he would write. What the characters would be and what friends would play which roles. Would I help when the lights needed to go down and to make the parents comfortable? End of January or February would be the right time…rehearsals, costuming, set design…and on and on. I told him I’d get him a notebook to keep track of it all and help where I could. He was so animated and focused.

I’m still coming up against stories I’m holding inside that I want to rewrite. I am reminded that I can. That it is up to me to write my stories and make my meanings and then rewrite them as I grow and as I go. You can do it too…don’t forget to be dramatic, silly, theatrical, intense…all good bits in a juicy play.
